Reflections on a wonderful, whirlwind year

A year into my life as an independent consultant, I have thoughts…and a whole lot of gratitude.

I’m hooked on this word-finding game, and lately I’ve realized it has some lessons to impart for leaders and managers.

The value of a college degree goes far beyond the benefits it accrues to the individual. Higher education’s purpose lies in its service to a free and civilized society.

Whether conveying concern, taking a stand, or expressing support, gratitude, or outrage, knowing when and how to use your voice is an important part of your role as a leader.

Today, it is especially true that institutions should seize upon the opportunity provided by milestone occasions to declare and celebrate two powerful truths: Who you are and why you matter.

The year ahead will be a wild ride. Is your marketing and communications operation up to the task?
